Capital FM Radio Interview with myself and Sal Davis (2012)

May 31, 2012 | no comments

Had a great interview with Chris Foot last week on The Capital Fm morning show. After a week of early morning interviews, this morning seemed to be the hardest morning to wake up to….No coffee, as there was no power at home,  it was cloudy and grey outside and it was the last interview of the week.

We got into the studio and despite the circumstances above:) the interview flowed, questions and answers were hit back and forth and they played my new release MOVE OVER.

Business Daily Article of Sal Davis and Maia

May 30, 2012 | no comments

In his heyday, Sal Davis was as close to an all-round entertainer as it could get.

He was not just an acclaimed international singer who shared the stage with stars like Shirley McLaine, but was also one of the pioneer presenters on the Voice of Kenya radio and television.

TIA – Cette est l’Afrique Blog

May 16, 2012 | no comments

Came across this blog this morning by TIA (Cette est l’Afrique)  regarding our performance at Harare International Festival of the Arts 2012. Really positive words, and the photos are great!

http://aebabroad.blogspot.com/2012/05/beyond-fantastic-maia-von-lekow.html

I had never heard of HIFA until a few months before the festival. I was totally blown away by the organisation of the festival,  the musicians chosen to perform there and the buzz around it.

A Zimbabwean told me ‘ We talk about the festival all year long, it is our highlight of the year, if it is in the future, we build up for it, and if  it has just passed we reminisce about how great it was all year, till the next time it comes round’.

It definately is one of the best festivals I have attended and performed at!!
